She could not understand. How could the phantom be so crule and then turn around and be so nice! He made the girl marry him then send her away to be with her childhood love! While thinking this Libbey thought of her first love. They first met when Libbey was 6 and 7, they started dating for real when they were 15 and 16. John wanted to be more than friends, and Libbey was for it. But like all first loves it did not last. After John graduated he left for higher education, Libbey was devistated that he wanted to go, she was all for it but she wanted to stay in contact with him but he wanted to disappear for awhile or ever. After he left she swollowed her emotions and spit them out in books. She read from when she was 15 to 19. it was only two years that she finnally started living life again, she did not want to let any guy keep her from the life she wanted to live. And after those two years she was going to take her life into her hands and her hands only. So the first guy that she met was Steve, he was so much more fun then John could have ever been. She was having so much fun that she did not even relize that Steve's teeth were going into her neck and sucking the blood out of her. She would admit to anyone that asked, she enjoyed having the blood sucked out of her. After Steve made her who she is now, she wanted to go and be free. But he wanted her to stay with him, she agreed to do so. However, after three years of being together he left no reason what soever. He said he would be back, never knowin when but he would be back. She trusted him enough to beleive him, so she went on with life not knowing what would happen to her. She would never let anyone bring her down EVER EVER again!

Much, much like the phantom in Libbey's book ghostly footsteps made no sound against the cold concrete that made up the alley's floor. Though the creature sported black combat boots, he might as well be a ghost. In fact, he used to be compared to a ghost when he acted as a spy because he was silent and very rarely spotted sneaking around. The creature's crimsion gaze found Libbey seated on the ground and against the wall, even in the sheer darkness that marked nighttime. The sight the the femme brought a somewhat twisted grin to the man's face, though much of his features were hidden in the shadows casted by his tophat that was set atop his head. Crimson cape hung loosely over his shoulders as he approached Libbey. A gloved hand swept a stray ebony lock that fell away from it's place as he closed the gap between the vampire and himself. Pausing in front of the girl, he knelt with one knee touching the ground before her. His silver swoard softly touching concrete as he lowered himself to be eye-level with the female. "Why, hello there....angel from my nightmare" He questioned, eyes narrowing with the greeting. He hardly spoke unless asked too or when he felt as if words were needed and when he did speak? Words came together like poetry. His words were always confident and spoke with a slight saracastic grin. In fact, many a times he had been called a poet. Though no nicknames were given here and that same old sarcastic grin faded as his gaze met her's. Because of being and elder vampire....he has been told he could harbor no emotion....yet that never stopped him from falling for Libbey in the past.
He was known as a deadly creature, feared by many...hated by most and an enemy to mostly all. His real name was Steve but because of so many nicknames he had been dubbed in stories and newspapers...he had forgotten his real name. He's also an elder of all vampires and responsible for creating over 1,000 just like him. The red arm band sported on his left arm told many he belonged with the elder vampires, but if one needed that band of proof...they'd probably be dead anyway. He stood tall at near six feet. His ebony locks and crimson gaze complete with his outfit had many girls at his feet and yet he only cared for one. The one known as Libbey. And though he loved her...he never really stated it outloud...mainly because he doesn't really know how to love. He's learning as he goes....and Libbey still stays at his side. For unknown reasons, he stays alongside her too.

Libbey was too lost in thought to realize that somebody had come up on her, until he spoke to her. After hearing his voice, she knew that it was Steve. She looked up at him and saw the smile that melted her to her knees. She smiled back at him and said, "I am sorry that I am in your nightmare. I wish i could be a dream, how have you been?" She was not sure if he was going to answer her or just blow her off question, if he did it would not be pretty.

Her reply brought yet another small, saracastic grin to the elder's face. His pale skin that hadn't seen the sun in hundreds of years nearly shone in the moonlight and, to anyone guessing his breed, marked him as a definate vampire. Her smile had rendered no such emotion from him, but he did envy Libbey for being able to melt at his every smile. If only, if only. He told himself nearly everynight. If only I could give back as much emotion as I am given. Too bad that showing all out signs of love was next to impossible for him. Though he could learn. He could be taught to love like his lover can. He can be taught to mimick that same soft look in his eyes. But that could take years. Years that Steve didn't have. For you see, the worlds were not at rest and battle broke out everyday between Kamenwati and her brother. War killed hundereds from either side and he, acting as a spy...could die in battle any day or if Kamenwati ever gave reason that her trust in him and his ability to preform his duties faltered he would be slaughtered instantaniously. He'd be no more then a dust spot on the ground. So, no. Steve didn't have countless years to come to learn how to love....not unless war ended and that would be next to never. He shook thoughts of war off. He had a break remember? Though Kamenwati promised him a lesser position, he knew that he'd never get it. He would always be a spy for her. Though he was allowed breaks. And this was one of them. To her first reply, he gave a small nod. "I am mere animal, thus I am not granted the pleasure of a mere dream" He spoke the truth. Because he was an elder vampire, he wasn't allowed to have anything but nightmares that is....if he slept. Sleep was rare to Steve because he never allowed his gaurd to fail. He had obtained too many enemies to allow such weakness in his gaurd.
He did not wish to answer her second question. The real answer would be 'bad' or 'busy' but he couldn't allow such words to escape his pale lips. Because if that ever happened...she would question his whereabouts. And he wouldn't be allowed to answer that question. Yet, he knew that blowing her question away would end in a whole new battle. The two of them held short, short fuses for temper. So the slightest thing could have both of them with thier swoards drawn. And if that happened and if he had fallen into true rage...Libbey would be no more. Steve had grown at the very least, nine times better with his sword. Meaning the femme would be gone within instants. Heaving a near silent sigh, he replied with a simple. "Fine. I have been fine. And of you?" He reversed the question to Libbey. After all, he was the slightest curious to how she had been and what exactly she did to waste her time in his abesnce.

She could tell that he was not fine. He looked tired. Instead of replying she pulled him close to her and huged him. "I know that you are not fine. But for once I am not going to question your, so....I am fine. I just finished reading "Phantom of the Opera" for the tenth time. I have read two other books since you left, and when i was not reading I was walking. Just a few hours ago I met this person who was wondering if I needed a job, and lets just say i lauged at them. And of course lost my temper. That is all that i have been doing since you left." Libbey hoped that he would come around and tell her where he had been, if not she would see where it would go!

For only a moment's notice, Steve took a tiny half-step back in shock; he had expected an outraged yell or more inquries from the girl and yet there he stood with her clentching to him and for once, the word 'fine' was a good enough answer for the female. A soft release of uneeded air marked the ending of this shock and the beginning of a rarely spotted side of him. Crimison gaze closed slowly as his arm rose slowly to enclose Libbey in a gentle embrace. Dispite the fact that he actually enjoyed being here and like this with Libbey, he did not wish for time to freeze so that the moment would last an enterinity like many men would have at this point of time...human or vampire. He was an elder vampire, time had been frozen for over 400 years for him. It had been frozen for so long in fact, that he had wished for a great enemy to wipe him away. Finally, Steve took a step away from the embrace. Besides being a vampire and evil, Steve created enemies with his 'line of work' as well...some would even be willing to slaughter Libbey if they had caught the two like this. And so, he brushed it off.
What she had to say to him did not surprise him one bit, nor did the fact that she had uttered it all in under 10 seconds. She had read so many books while he was around and keeping her busy but with him away, she could have read nonstop the entire time. When she spoke of someone asking her for some work, he pondered who it could have been. If it was one of Kamenwati's spies, he'd have to kill them and if not, it all depended if the person could stay on his 'good' side. Yet he said nothing of Kamenwati or her countless spies running around in every city on either side because, if he would have revealed this...there was a chance he could accidently reveal his job and other secrets or worse, she would ask him how he got the information and he'd have to lie or cut her down where she stood. "Ah, glad to see you have kept yourself busy in my absence" He replied. Hints of humor playing out in his words. In the new silence that wedged itself between the two, he closed his eyes once more and allowed himself to drift in and out of his thoughts. He had plenty of thoughts to sort through before the sun came up and he had A LOT of explaining to do if he expected to get out of this alive.

Libbey heard a humor in his voice. Not sure what to say, because even though she gave him an opening to tell her what he been doing since he been gone, and he did not take it. This made her upset, on the verge of loosing her temper. "What eles was i supposed to do since you were off somewhere doing god knows what! You cant just expect me to put down my whole life and wait for you to come back!" her words were full of anger, but she did not mean for them to come out with all her emotions.

Something is missing.... Though he had tried to stay on Libbey's good side, it was obvious to him that he failed miserably. Libbey's words did strike anger deep in the pit of his stomach too. " And you can waste your time with useless tasks such as reading!?" Came his angery reply, his voice a mixture of a cold hiss and a yell. He would be the first to admit that his temper was short, but he didn't care. He never tried to hold back his anger when he was mad...even for something as simple as this. His crimsion gaze narrowing in a mixture of both annoyance and anger. Though Libbey wouldn't know about his job or what he did in his spare time away from her....he at least brought money and food home nearly everynight when he wasn't away with work. And she did know that. As he sat, thinking through all these thoughts and excuses, his anger grew. His anger escalading to a point that at one time, his hand grazed the hilt of his sword. But he decided against taking this arguement to fighting levels. He was in the milatary, he knew sword handling better then many and he was sure that Libbey would get badly injured in this battle. Perhaps that's why he loved Libbey so much, because she was interesting and gave him a challenge every now and again. Finally, pale lips parted for more yelling, but he was cut off by a new, fimilar scent. Autumn!! Crimsion gaze shot to the end of the alley way, but the female was no where in sight. She was around though. Like Peter and Autumn, Steve and Autumn had formed a mutual friendship over thier days. Starting with the day Autumn let him free after she had spotted him as a spy. Very soon, the teenager would walk in on his and Libbey's battle........ Maybe I.....but what do I know?

Libbey was out raged! How can he say such things about her reading skills. "How can you say such a thing! And what is it that keeps you busy on your free time! Or is that for only you to know, just like everything else you keep from me! Don't you dare reach for that sword! And furthermore........." She noticed that he shot a look down ally way, "What are you looking for?" She did not like it when she turned his head away from her when she was talking to him. This made her temper rise even more!

If we cut out the bad.... [/sup] Though he knew Libbey was more then furious with him at the moment and he should have probably watched her for any signs of an attack, his gaze remained on the end of the alley way. All his senses aleart for what he knew would soon come. Autumn wasn't the type to just show up with a smile and join in on a conversation, she always appeared and disappeared like she was a vampire....but she was merely a human. Steve and Autumn have had a long history. He knew Autumn when she was just a kid and had even been by her house a few more times. A year ago, Autumn and Steve fought, Autumn nearly killing Steve in the process. Though Steve found Autumn to be cunning and interesting, his wife disagreed and would rather have the teenager dead. He didn't hear a single word Libbey went on about and it was obvious he hadn't heard a single word she said either. He remained silent with his crimson gaze locked at the end of the alley way. He did, however, catch Libbey's last question. And this time he turned to face the raging vampire " Can't you smell her?" He questioned Libbey. Before she had the chance to reply, a movement caught his eyes. Turning to the open end of the alley way once again, he spotted Autumn with her arms crossed and leaning against a brick wall. " It's about time you showed up" Steve spoke first, humor ringing in his tone. He was really beginning to wonder if he had just imagened her scent. Autumn gave a loud sigh and pulled herself away from the wall, gaze never leaving Libbey and Steve. " Yeah, well I knew you'd miss me" Came Autumn's reply. She knew Steve well, and in fact had always called him her uncle. Because he and her dad were so close and Steve had always stopped by the house every other day. It was true, she had adopted Steve as her uncle. When the pale vampire grinned and nodded, she approached the two. Though she was careful to keep her attention undivided. She knew Steve wouldn't attack without warning her first because he loved a challenge, she knew Libbey wouldn't waste a moment to lunge for her throat if she allowed her attention to fall. Because of a fight long ago, Autumn earned a place on Libbey's bad side...which was fine with her....she rather not befriend a vampire. " I'm sppouse to kill you now, you know that." She told Steve. Instead of a nod, the vampire took her up in a mock embrace. It was obvious that the vampire didn't want to waste time with battleing Autumn tonight, so instead he would act like her uncle. " Yeah, but you won't" Steve replied as he let Autumn go from the embrace. The teenager put on a scowl at his good mood, crossing her arms in a sarcastic reply to the hug. It was always like this between the two, trading sarcastic remarks, battling and leaving. Neither of the two had really wanted to kill the other. And better yet, Steve was a spy....for Autumn. He had pretended to be loyal to Kamenwati while always really collecting news for Autumn. The truth of the matter was, he couldn't stand Kamenwati and would take great enjoyment in battling against her......with or without Libbey at his side. That was his payment to Autumn as well, seeing that the teenager spared his life a complete total of three times. " Libbey, you remember Autumn don't you?"

"Of course I remember her! If I have my facts right she tried to kill you the last time we all met!"She did not like the way Steve and her were talking to each other. she could not understand how he could be so nice to her after that! She stared at Steve then then looked at Autumn. She still could not belive it! "So, Autumn, if you are going to be here for awhile. I gess I should tell you something. I met up with a good friend of yours, his name was Tancred. And man WAS he handsome!" She put more emotion in to the word was, just to see what she would do! She then gave an evil laugh that would make any other human squrm in their pants!
