Name; Rosa Serutti
Gender; Girl
Age; 12
Looks Like; 12
Race; Human
Description; Coming from German/Italian descent, Rosa has long brown hair and soft, dark, blue eyes. She's long, wiry, and underweight since her mother can't afford to feed her. Her growth is stunted since she's underweight, being a mere 28 pounds, Rosa still manages to do well in school even though hunger gnaws at her every second of every day.
Rosa's tall for age, 5'4 1/2, and is picked on for being taller than the other children. But she sees it as an ability; helping the short people who can't reach up high, holding things above other's heads so they can't get it (she'll give it back, of course. usually...). Mama says their just afraid of the differences between them; that they don't like differences.
Personality; Rosa's kind at heart and won't hesitate to tell the truth; usually. She wants to be the best person she can, and according to the Torah it's what God told the Jews.
Rosa probably can't remember the last time she ate a full meal. It was a while back, though. The children at the school get free lunches, and sometimes that's the only meal she gets. The teachers are mean and strict, you're lucky if you get one that understands. Mama says that understanding a child is the best you can do for it, and she's right in Rosa's opinion. The only teacher that understood her was Mr. Yalowitz. He was kind and softhearted. He went easy on Rosa becuase he knew of her past...
History; When Rosa was born (Ocotber 3, 1993), her mother wanted a child so bad, a boy, preffiabley, but alas, she got a girl. Rosa. Rosa never cried unless there was a problem, and her parents loved her. Her father worked in the mills in Italy, where she was born, and worked extra to help support his family. Her mother worked at a laundry mat to help the family pay for the expenses of everyday needs. Rosa was growing everyday and went through about fifty thousand diapers a day, it seemed. This was almost too much for her parents to handle.
When Rosa turned five, she started going to school. Every day she went to school dressed in her only dress and only pair of shoes, her lunch money in her book back that was full of holes. Everyone made fun of her for being a poor mill worker's child.
When Rosa turned seven she wanted to try out for Ballet. Her parents hadn't enough money, so Rosa went down everyday to the Ballet place and watched the girls practice. She copyed their movements exactly, and eventually began to move along with the class; watching from the window. But that was all she'd ever do: watch from the window.
Rosa turned eleven on October 13, as usual. Her mother gave her a choclate bar for her 11 birthday; from her dad she recieved 1 dollar. One dollar was enough for the cabbage her mother needed for tonights dinner; which was the same almost every night. Her parents argued and argued until her father left the house; dissappearing into the night. Forever.
That night he did not return and Mrs. Serutti soon found out she was a widow. That night Rosa and her mother left Germany. Rosa has promised herself that one day she would return to Germany.
