Though the Victorian era was nothing more then a page in a history book, or a blur of memory in any immortal's memory...she remembered it as if it were yesterday. She remembered everything as if it were yesterday.....everything. Memories of those hellish experiments always brought the same question up through it all: What am I? She could be described as a vampire, with the fangs, pale skin, weakness to light, drinking the blood of humans and overall immortality but was she really a vampire? She wasn't born a vampire nor was she bitten. She had gained all power from a series of forced experiments....so did that really make her a vampire? Or just a homemade freak? And more importantly, did any of that even matter anymore now that over 300 years have passed since that day? Of course it did, somewhere deep down the question burned for an answer...but she hid any signs of it on the surface. Unseen to both others and herself. It was all an illusion.
The time had to be reaching into the early hours of midnight, the only light was from the sliver moon that lit both the field before her and the indigo skies above. The only sounds audible were the soft harmony of crickets throughout the grasses of the field and the light rustling of grass and silky cloth as a shadowy figure made it's way through the grasses. Tonight, she wore an elegant crimson dress, the very one she wore in her last picture. A black choker accented her pale neck and ebony hair tied back in a high bun. Eyeliner, mascara and even eye shadow brought out aqua blue eyes. To anyone else besides a long lived vampire, she might seem nothing but a mere illusion...here for a second and then gone in a flash. But to the trained eye of a vampire, she'd seem normal. It all depened on the looker.
Unseeing gaze locked on the far off horizon, without a thought tracing through her mind. She didn't know why she decided to come here tonight or what she was planning on doing when she was done or here, she just kept going. She'd eventually find something to do. Tonight, like many nights before this one, her headached. This didn't surprise her, her head often ached when she thought of her past like she had been for quite some time now. She hadn't a clue to why these thoughts plagued her mind this night either, only that she wished for them to go away soon. She hated guessing what she was or what she was capable of doing, though she did this every other day. Throughout her long lived life, she had met so many diffrent people, both vampire and human, and yet they all asked the same question in the end. 'Are you human or vampire?' She couldn't answer theier questions because she didn't know. That had been the only thing she couldn't get that bastard to spill the night of her escape. Since then, she had built a small mansion hidded deep within the neutral lands. She knew she should be out on the lines and fighting for the vampires, but she stayed put. She hadn't stepped foot in a war since her rebirth nor would she ever again. War was something for humans to fight in and die in, it wasn't her fault they had picked this time to fight against vampires. It seemed they wanted thier lives to end faster.
By now, she had frozen from her walk and turned her gaze to the skies above. Hardly anything crossed her mind as her pale blue gaze swept over both the sky and the lands surrounding her. She knew her mansion was nearly a mile away, hidden in a dense forest and she also knew that she was now standing in the heart of the Fields of Kyuuka. Because this land belonged to both human and vampire, the scents of the breeds mixed throughout every inch of this land, yet no one had been this deep into the lands in quite sometime. This only meant that she would more then likely be alone tonight, which didn't bother her much. She didn't mind company and she didn't mind wandering off on her own either. As long as she could find some place new. Giving off a sound that sounded much like a sigh, unable to actually sigh because her breath had stopped many years back, she took in the sights of fields again. Closing her eyes after finding no one else there. She had to find something that would waste the many hours streching between now and daylight.
